A Short Description
-
Full-bore rifle shooting takes place at Boar Hill, approximately 2 miles south of Dorking on the Coldharbour Road. Boar Hill is noted for its muddy patches, several streams rising on the hillside, the deceptive climb to the targets, about 100 ft. above the 600 yards firing point level, and the interesting variations in the terrain due to sharing part of the range with various livestock. In spite of these idiosyncrasies it is a friendly and unique location.
-
The shooting programme is based on Club Trophies and competitions. There is no reason though why non-competitors should not shoot on a competition day. The only restriction is that competitors will be given preference if space or time is short and that all shooting is restricted to the disciplines and range(s) in use on the day.
-
Electronic targets obviate the need for markers and are used for most target rifle events. However, they do require setting up and, perhaps more importantly, putting away.
-
The Club is not staffed but run by Members for Members and all are expected to ‘muck in’ as necessary.
-
The Club is affiliated to the National Rifle Association (NRA), the Surrey Rifle Association (SRA) and the Surrey County Small Bore Rifle Association (SCSBRA).
